Ok, building without CONFIG_ACPI_THERMAL set stops the automatic thermal
shutdown.
The laptop boots normally.

I have installed lm-sensors, and the core temperatures are 41*C ~ 44*C, so
temperatures are definitely normal (not that I ever thought they were 255*C ;-)
)

Question:
Given that temps are ok, and I can still here the laptop fans speeding up when
the cpu is under load.
Is it safe to run without CONFIG_ACPI_THERMAL ?
..and..
What is the main purpose of this option?
