Summary: Upgrading from 2.6.28 results in i801_i2c conflicting
with acpi and no i2c on the system
Product: ACPI
Version: 2.5
Kernel Version: 2.6.32 and newer
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Tree: Mainline
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P1
Component: EC
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
Regression: Yes
After upgrading from 2.6.28 to 2.6.32 i801_i2c stoped working.
The relevant dmesg part when trying to modprobe is this:
[ 4867.708950] ACPI: resource 0000:00:1f.3 [io 0xe800-0xe80f] conflicts with
ACPI region SM00 [??? 0x0000e800-0x0000e806 flags 0x30]
[ 4867.708963] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should
use it instead of the native driver
Looking at the docs I was suggested to go for the i2c_ec driver provided by
ACPI but it was removed in this commit:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=84cb55987236ffea062a35fbe1441768b6bb2722
I can try to compile the old i2c_ec code as a module and report back if
necessary.
