Just keeping up with my promise, I have tested this, and I think that it works perfectly well. Actually, perhaps not 100% well, but I have yet to see if that is the parameter or if that is some other instability here, since I observed the following: I booted with processor.ignore_ppc=1, unplugged the power, plugged the power and started compiling a new kernel. Then, I left the computer for some minutes. After I returned it was turned off. That may have been a fluke, though. I will try with one of the stable series kernels and give feedback.
