Hello,

I have an Asus T2-PH1 barebone system (Intel 951G, Adaptec sound, Marvell Yukon
Gigabit ethernet, Nvidia 7300GS), with Debian Squeeze installed on it. The
kernel is 2.6.32-5-686 (freshed to 2.6.32-41) and I am using GDM. (The bug is
also present with Ubuntu and Kubuntu.)
The computer does the sequence at shutting down, but it halts before switching
off the power supply. It stops the HDD, keyboard, mouse, and the last thing it
prints to the screen is

System halt.
[time] Power down.

The power supply should be switched off, but the system hangs here. It is
somehow related to the X-server. First, I installed Debian (or Ubuntu, Kubuntu)
normally, and the bug was present even at the first shut down.
When I had to install the Nvidia drivers, I disabled the automatic start of the
X-server, so I had a multiuser character interface.

If I press the power button - regardless of logging in or not - the system
normally shuts down. But once I start the X server (by typing startx), the bug
appears: it does not matter whether I chose the shut down from the Gnome menu
or I log out from the GUI and type poweroff or press the power button: the
system hats just before switching off the power supply.

The bug is also present with KDM.

Is there something I can do? Everything works fine, but it is really annoying
that I have to press the power button for 4 seconds to fully shut down the
computer.

Best regards, Dani
