--- Comment #92 from Xavier Hourcade <[email protected]> 2012-06-16 16:08:51 --- erratum: s/shift/one's complement/ (In reply to comment #88) > EC Bios is 1000B80001 (both for 301 and 302). Same EC version here (and Bios 301) (In reply to comment #89) > You can use the kernel cmdline "thermal.nocrt=1" Sorry I hadn't confirmed this, using this option makes no difference here, certainly as you described here : > It seems that the EC on this box is basically going out to lunch. > If we have Linux ignore the bogus temperature reading, the EC > takes matters into its own hands and shuts off the system. Yesterday I have ran a native Wind'Oz Vista on this system i.e. the OEM install up to date. It includes Asus's ACPI drivers named as "ATKxxx". This was the third time since I experience this issue under Linux, and Vista still didn't fail despite heavy load. Is there anything I could do/extract/dump from ths Vista installation to help better understand the issue ? > One possible approach would be to neuter the ACPI EC driver > altogether so that it doesn't load. For it may be interaction > with the Linux EC driver that is confusing the motherboard EC.
