Never mind, I found the information. It was 4.13. This firmware was broken to
begin with and changes between 4.13 and 4.14 emitted a firmware error that was
somehow suppressed before 4.13...

The dmesg contains errors regarding LNK[A-D]. These are actual errors because
your ACPI tables does not contain definitions for those objects. It's likely
that these errors have been hiding this entire time and some ACPICA change made
this error appear in your dmesg. I will try to find the change that made these
errors appear to confirm my hypothesis.
