Yes - these hooks would render useless a few simple workarounds I have created.

I think the proposed solution should cover all the bases. You can easily call a 4D method if necessary from the event handler, for instance to post-process the response with QFree (until I add regex support myself!), as Alexander needs to do, or you can examine the request and abort the execution completely in the pre-execute hook. I think that may work for Brad.
Okay, I will move ahead with the proposed scheme.
