howdy,

in the itk demo, there is an example of a http call (get and post) that will retrieve a page.
the result can easily be included in a page. this kind of functionality is frequently used in other languages like php and it is conveniently called include.
we use it on our site to include custom client content, and it woks quite well.
cheers

Hi all,

Forgive me if I'm being silly here....

We are running A4D on our 4D Server 2003 using the built-in web server. We have another server for all web requests with WebSTAR V, using proxy redirection to the A4D server when necessary, and serving static pages and all images directly.

We provide FTP access to our clients so they can amend their pages on the WebSTAR server, but we do not wish to allow FTP access to the A4D Server.

Now one of my clients wants fancy password protection for some pages which he needs to update regularly. I want to control the passwords/access using sessions in A4D, but I still want him to be able to FTP the updates. So, I was hoping I'd be able to include a remote URL in an A4D page, in the form:

<% include("http://www.com";) %>

However, I assume this is not possible.

I could redirect to the remote page after checking the password, but this would alert the user to the page's URL and allow him to circumvent the password control next time.

So, can some kind soul please suggest a better strategy?

Thanks!

David Wright
