one effect I have is, an old structure (converted from 4D v3 -> 6.0 -> 6.5 ->6.7 -> 6.8 -> 2003.x) runs fine with A4D 3.0, no problems at all.

A new structure (very simple just 4 tables, nearly empty) created with 4D 2003.3 gets kicked into an endless loop after some time (varies). I kept the Runtime Explorer open. After the loop starts, I can't connect with a browser - but all activity gauges are at zero. Even TOP reports a lazy 4D. As soon as I click at a 4D window/menu bar or just bring it to front, I get the colored-cursor-of-death. Forcing 4D to quit is the only way out.

Did you start the structure with the Active4D shell or copy the Active4D groups into the new structure? It sounds to me like the shell is not correctly installed.
