I am creating a web app in a4d that needs access to the filesystem, I want to quickly scan the users hard drive for documents ending in .xls, .pdf, etc

Any thoughts on how to do this?

There are an awful lot of security patches out there to STOP web applications being able to do this! Accessing the client hard drive from a web browser would be a massive security hole, which any browser that I'm aware of will have plugged. If it were possible, then that's exactly what virus programmers would use to gain access to all the data on your computer. I suppose that you *might* be able to do it with an ActiveX control, but even then, the security implications would be massive.

Look at the FOLDER LIST, DOCUMENT LIST and "extension of" commands.

These are server-side functions.
