In the case of plugins, there is very little documentation, so I am always left to rely on observed behavior -- which of course changes depending on interpreted/compiled and compatibility mode/Unicode mode. And of course there are some plugin entrypoints that discover are broken, so I have to do an EXECUTE internally. Lots of fun.
