Hi,

Haven't done this in a long while, and just want to make sure I've got this
right (so I can explain it to the people who will be setting it up).

Am setting up Active4D to run on 4D Remote (previously 4D Client) using 4D web
server on Windows 7 (I think--might be Vista). 4D version 12.2; Active4D
version 5.0r29.

1) Active4D plugin goes on the 4D Server computer, in the Plugins folder.

2) 4D Remote is installed on the web serving computer. (I think this ends up by
default in the "Program Files" directory?)

3) Do the folders "Web" (my web files), "Active4D" (configuration files) and
"Web_Static" (files served directly by 4D) all go here?

<SystemDisk>:\ProgramData\4D\com.aparajita\Active4D\

(Is there a problem having an Active4D folder within an Active4D folder?)

or can I put them here (with the 4D Remote application, which is how I think I
used to do it)?

<systemDisk>:\Program Files\4D\

4) In the 4D Web Server Preferences, do I just enter "Web_Static" for "Default
HTML Root"? Or do I need more of a complete path for it to be found? (I'm
confused, as the 4D docs state that under 4D Remote, the default location for
the "Default HTML Root" is _in_ the 4D Remote application folder. I would like
to have all folders from #3 in the same place if possible, or at least the Web
and Web_Static folders. However, I think you're not supposed to put program
data in the same directory as the application on Windows? I think the last time
I set this up I did have everything in the application folder, but I'm guessing
that's not allowed anymore?)

5) Finally, where does the key file go? On 4D Server or 4D Remote? (The docs
just mention in the "4D shared licenses folder", but doesn't specify whether
it's on Server or Remote.) I think in the past it went on the 4D Remote (4D
Client) machine. Is there a licenses folder on the 4D Remote computer? Where?

Sorry if these are stupid questions; again, haven't done this in a while, and
would like to give clear instructions to the folks who will be setting it up,
since I won't have hands-on access to the system.

Many thanks!

Michael Larue
