Hi,

Just wanted to follow up on this issue for the archives.

This is for Active4D 6.0r6, 4D 12.4 on Mac OSX 10.8 running on 4D Remote
(Client).

To recap, I had the Active4D folder located in the top level Library path. The
site partially worked, but some pages wouldn't load and there were many errors
in the log.

Later I added an alias to this folder in the User Library path. The web site
then appeared to work properly (all pages loaded and code executed properly),
but I still had the following error in the log file:

Mar 06 17:11:35 Active4D: [error] env: error -1 setting wd:
/Users/aparajita/Development/Projects/4D_Plugins/v11/framework/4d/env4d.cpp,
line 1210, StDefault4DDirectory

Changing the Active4D folder location and removing the aliases fixed this
problem; the log file is now clean with no error messages. (I did not try
creating a symlink, so no answer as to whether that works as well.)

One strange glitch--putting the Active4D folder in this path works:

<Userhome>/Library/Application Support/4D/com.aparajita/Active4D

However, this path does _not_ seem to work (at least on the client's system):

/Library/Application Support/4D/com.aparajita/Active4D

It appears to partially work, but doesn't seem to load up the config file and
libraries properly, giving the errors initially encountered. I did make sure
folder and file permissions along the full path were set to read/write for
everybody. No explanation as to why, and it may be something specific to this
one client (running 4D Remote), but since the other path works, that's what
we're going with.

And again, be aware that the User Library folder is hidden by default on Mac OS
10.8 (annoying decision by Apple), so you need to use some alternative trick to
access it (either holding down the ALT key when clicking on the GO menu, or
changing folder visibility flags in Terminal).

Once everything's set up properly, of course, the sun will shine, birds will
sing, life is good and hopefully you never need to deal with it again.

Cheers!

Michael Larue
