[ActiveDir] Domain not availible

Hi Guys,   I just upgrade an NT domain as a child to a root 2000 domain.  I have another NT domain which trusts both 2000 domains.  I have many computers accounts on the child AD domain.  When I try to log on to the NT 4 domain from one of the computers on the child AD domain I randomly get a message that says the domain is unavailable.  Anyone have any clues.  We are still using WINS.  Should I have a DNS record for my NT 4 domain?   Thanks,   Brian
