I remember that too, but for MCSE's in 2000 that want to also be certified
in 2003 they only need to take 2 exams and not 6 exams

Excuse me for getting a bit perterbed (it's been a very frustrating day),
but didn't Microsoft originally say that MCSE 2000's wouldn't need to
upgrade? I thought that was done so that people wouldn't just skip the 2000
path and go right to .NET (2003).

Am I wrong?
