Hello! Can someone
please clear something up for me...?
If Exchange 2000 runs on LDAP port 379 and Exchange 5.5 runs on LDAP 389
- how do they talk to each other? Doesn't
the ADC run on port 389 as well? Scenario: Windows 2000 domain controller GC - want to install
Exchange 2000 on it... Already has
ADC (from exchange CD) installed on it and configured a two-way CA fro 5.5 and
Active Directory. I am able to replicate
the ADC and get changes/updates to my Active Directory,
however when I try to install Exchange 2000 it hangs at "configuring SRS
database and initializing". I have
the install point to the same site the ADC is replicating with in 5.5. So my question is this:
Do I have to change the port on E5.5 to something OTHER THAN 389? It seems as though my 5.5 can talk to the
Active Directory database and do updates but my Exchange 2000 can not talk to
5.5 (or vice versa). Is that because I
am trying to install Exchange 2000 on a Domain Controller that is also a Global
Catalog? Or is my problem completely
unrelated to the LDAP ports? Thanks in advance for you help and suggestions! Joe Pelle Systems Administrator Information Technology Valassis / Targeted Print
