Hi Folks, I have 2 w2k servers in my network that are responsible for all the FSMO roles,DNS,DHCP,etc. Have just promoted a server3k member server to DC status and would Like to temporarily give the 3k server all of the above responsibility while I decommission the 2k servers one at a time and rebuild them as 3k servers. The problem is that all 2k and xp clients point to the 2k servers for DNS, which leads to my question. Can I change the IP address of the 3k server to that of one of the 2k servers once it is out of the loop and not experience any problems? I read an article about how to do it but would like to know if anyone has done this and if so what should I look out for as far as gotchas, etc.
Thank you in advance Jerry
