Hi,

If one of the domains in a forest dies on you the procedure is as follows (in a nutshell):
* Install the OS or reboot in DSRM if possible
* Restore system state
* No need to authoritatively restore the database!!!
* Increase RidManagerPool in the domain
* Seize domain fsmo roles if necessary
* Rebuild the GC on other DCs in other domains for the naming context in the restored domain

It is something like this.

Check the following Microsoft document:

Jorge

In a nutshell yes...... I'd go to the Microsoft site and pull down one of their procedures... sorry I can list one off now.

I have a question for everyone.  If you have a child domain and for some reason you lose every domain controller in the domain, and you have a spare server that you install the OS on, how would you go about getting the domain back up and running.

Do you install the OS
Restore the System State
Perform an authoritative restore of the database
sieze all FSOM roles

Please let me know, thanks
