Subject: [ActiveDir] Local Permission Groups

Good afternoon everyone,

We're recently migrated our users across from a Windows NT domain to Windows 2000 AD with the migration we have removed all the users from the Workstation Admin group. As you can imagine this has been popular ;-)

Obviously some users are now unable to install programs or devices onto their computers. To get around this, for the interim, we've added the relevant users into the "Power Users" group on there local machines. However, I struggling to find any information on what the "Power Users" group actually has permissions to; i.e. - modify registry entries, change permissions on folders, write/delete files to the root of C:.

Does anyone know of a good website that can explain the difference between "Administrators" and "Power Users"?

Thanks for your help in advanced.

Regards, Andrew
