By home directory I am assuming you are referring to My Documents or what used to be called the Personal folder in NT 4? If so, then typically in NT 4 system policy, this policy was set under the per-user (or group) Custom User Shell Folders section. This would equate to the following registry value: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Use r Shell Folders\Personal
This old NT 4 policy isn't explicitly supported in Group Policy today, but what I would recommend is creating a Folder Redirection Policy to set My Documents to redirect to the new server location. If that doesn't do the job, you can always load the old NT 4 ADM file to set this User Shell Folders value within a GPO, setting it to the new value. If you do actually mean the "home directory", then that is usually set on a per user-object basis in NT 4 or AD. Right now my network is still in mixed mode. Still trying to replace some old NT machines... My problem is that there is a system policy that is setting everyone's home directory to a server that is no longer online. Hasn't been for some time. We're getting ready to move to a new 2003 file server and I'd like to be able to set a group policy that sets everyone's home directory to the new server except that I think the old NT policy is getting in the way. I've tried looking on the NT PDC in system policy editor but can't seem to find it. Anyone have an idea as to how I can track this down? Thanks!
