Boris- AD is designed to and should have multiple domain controllers. To spin up additional DCs, build a box in a workgroup, and then go start>run>dcpromo and follow the wizard.
As far as the samba files, I'm not sure what you mean. And something else: I have a samba on a linux server which reads user permissions from the domain controller with winbind.
