I think that the difficulty is because you're trying to schedule a task to do something which (I think) it was never intended to do. All the scheduled tasks I use are ones which run without interfering with what's happening on the desktop - the last thing I want is for (eg) a backup process to pop up on my screen while I'm trying to do something.
