Title: The KCC and detecting DC failures

The following article describes how the KCC will detect a DC failure if replication fails n times and for a period of m hours.

Between sites, n is 1 and m is 2, within sites, n is 0 or 1 and m is 2 or 12 (direct neighbours and non-direct neighbours, respectively).

Furthermore, the KCC will failback to the original DC, once it can be contacted.

I'm considering a change to value of m (30 minutes seems to be more appropriate) and wondered if anyone had any experience of this change. I'm also interested to hear why the default value is so high (2 hours). This seems to me to be too long a time to wait before failing over to another DC.

Any comments or feedback?

Thanks,
neil
