Yes, I've searched the net for the solution and none of them seemed to
apply.  I'm behind a firewall and was totally unable to get the proxy to
work.  Don't know why, netscape and others work ok, so I downloaded the
zip files and unzipped them into a directory, E:\PERLMODS, changed to
that directory and ran ppm and got that error message.  Here are the
results:

The files are there, the ppd files look reasonable.  I don't have gzip
installed but I assume the files are OK.

I attempted to install both File-Slurp and Win32-DDE.  Same problem.  I
tried it without setting the repository, but that didn't work either.

Note: the PPM files are not binary, if that makes a difference.  

So what do I do next?
