There was a project (Topaz) that has been abandoned to port the internals
of Perl 5 to C++. It was abandoned because it really wasn't feasible.
Perl 6 will be more fully OO, but will run on the Parrot VM. I believe
Parrot is being written in C. Hope this helps.
