Hello--

I've been using Win32::Daemon for some time now to create a service under
Windows. The service logs in without a user name, and so Windows sees this
as a "LocalSystem" type of service (which is the same type of user that most
Windows services run under). It has worked beautifully for me under Windows
2000 Workstation and Windows XP Workstation. Now I'm trying the same script
on Windows Server 2003, and the service does not start at all. The message
reported by the event log is "Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the
<service name> service to connect." I don't think there is a timeout
because the service fails immediately. I suspect some kind of permission
issue, because if I try registering the service with a user name such as my
own, it runs. There has to be a way for it to run as the LocalSystem,
because most of the other services are running just fine (of course, most of
the others are written by Microsoft). And I don't want to create a special
login just for my service.

If anyone has insight into this issue, I'd appreciate it.

TIA
