That is probably the better solution, but if it isn't possible then Quotefix can help a little. It can make Outlook do what you ask, but it only seems to work properly when the original is a plain text message. As it happens, I am using Outlook with Quotefix to write this response. I don't have a link handy, but it should be easy enough to google for. Just note that Quotefix for Outlook and Outlook-Express are different programs, make sure you get the right one if you decide to try it.
