Just to elaborate a bit, The OLE Browser example shows an error message 
at the bottom if the set up is not correct. The message indicates that
"Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for 
scripting" needs to be set to "Enable" in IE 7 with XP SP2.

This was not completely sufficient when later security patches were 
added on top of SP2, and one work around was to install on a system with 
a running instance of IIS (rather drastic).

Recent testing has shown that with IE 8 and XP SP3, the original 
instructions are once again sufficient, although enabling possibly 
unsafe ActiveX controls should still be considered with caution.
