Has anyone successfully installed on Slackware Linux?
I unzipped 1.6 and can't get the python prompt.
when I enter "python" in the bin directory. I get the message
bash: ./python: No such file or directory
an ls -al gives
mansfield:~/python/ActivePython-1.6/bin$ ls -al
total 2770
drwxr-xr-x 2 ken gardfan 1024 Aug 23 19:11 ./
drwxr-sr-x 7 ken gardfan 1024 Aug 23 19:11 ../
-rwxr-xr-x 2 ken gardfan 1409130 Aug 23 19:09 python*
-rwxr-xr-x 2 ken gardfan 1409130 Aug 23 19:09 python1.6*
