I am using AS 2.2
I am using MySQL 5
I am using Passenger via Apache

I have a table (70,000 entries and plans to double). It includes a
number of 1-to-Many and Many-to-Many associations; some of these that
I want to display on the list view.

However, as the dataset has grown the list performance has degraded.
The moment the associations are removed from the list view performance
returns to acceptable levels. I would expect performance to remain
relatively constant even as the dataset grows since ultimately any one
list view is shown a constant number of records.

What confuses me is this: why?

When showing the list, only N records (in my case, 15) are ever needed
at any one time. Is AS trying to carry around those association over
all those records, even the ones not presently being shown in the
list? If so, what is the argument for this? Or have I misconfigured
something?
