a) You send a message to the list b) Message gets delivered to all list subscribers
c) One of the list's subscribers can't receive the mail (maybe their mailbox is full). Their mailserver returns the message to the list saying "message can't be delivered" /plus/ your original message. d) The listserver software goes "I'm not delivering this message to the list", and rejects it - but sends the rejection to you. The reason the rejection comes to you is because the mailserver in (c) is not configured properly.
