Thanks Donna, this is very helpful. Do you have a sense for how frequently the
petitions for transcript notation removal are approved for students who meet
the criteria?

Have a great day!
Amy

Subject: RE:[acupa-l] Academic Misconduct forgiveness

Hi Amy!

Here is information I received from our Director of Student Conduct & Academic
Integrity:

We have no such policy. We retain student conduct records for 7 years (or
permanently if students are suspended/expelled as a result of the misconduct).
As sanctions are cumulative and informed by past misconduct, expunging records
- at least those which result in a finding that the student committed the
violation(s) - would seem to be counterproductive.

Having said that, we do post Academic Dishonesty notations on transcripts and
students may petition that the transcript notation be removed if they've met
certain conditions after one year from the notation's application. Those
conditions are described on pages 17-18 of our Code:

Subject: [acupa-l] Academic Misconduct forgiveness

Good morning fellow ACUPA members,

I have been tasked with exploring whether or not other institutions have
policies or processes that allow for forgiveness/expunging of academic
misconduct findings/sanctions.

If you do not have a policy/process by which substantiated cases of academic
misconduct are forgiven, please let me know.

If you have a policy/process that allows for forgiveness, please send me a link.

Thanks and have a great day,
Amy
