i'd like to do my bit by saying we could add the other or outer
islanders by hosting the online version of the 'swaray' in UpStage -
although i won't be near a computer :)
i'm very keen to support Su's call on CHCH conference [or where-ever]
- being usually a re:mote participant to discussion its fantastic to
get the opportunity to get together at such events
have some Christchurch contacts through schools if venue is an issue
[although needs then to be in school holidays
[perhaps we could host a few drinks in UpStage to facilitate
discussion of the conference further down the track!]

Hi all,
Looking forward to some northern hospitality next week. And although
Stella told me that Sunday would involve NO POWERPOINTS, (of the
microsoft not electric version) I'd also like to maybe start some
conversation flowing this week that we could then pick up on. It
would also give anyone not in auckland a chance to chat too...
And then i thought where to start?
should we be stocktaking?
should we keep moving on the media lab concept? how? where? when?
should we be having another conference this year? There was some
initial discussion to host one at physics room in chch, the offer is
still open, and I'm willing to facilitate this but... do we need it?
what would it do?
should we be stomping our feet at the government's digital strategy?
should we be stomping our feet at all?

I cannot come on Sunday, even though I live in Auckland, I will be
not in Auckland that day, but have a good one.
I just wanted to respond to Su's 'discussion' prompt by saying I
think the conferences are really important and have all been terrific
so far. I have only missed New Plymouth last year due to an email
that went astray with my abstract for the residency.
Janine Randerson and I did talk about doing one here at Unitec and we
will, but she is away and off over the Tasman soon so it will have to
wait a wee while as I am not up to it on my own just now.
But Christchurch sounds good and I would be willing to help with
organizing a Referee process for Papers or whatever would be useful.
Who are the main protagonists there?
