Matthew Middleton, Dunedin based recording and performance artist, has released
2 'albums' of digital-audio work online for 2009. One is an Asia-Pacific
collaboration utilizing digitaly captured spoken word recordings and
electro-acoustic sounds, the other is a suite of ultra-new sound experiments
using freely available open-source software packages.
As a bonus, Middletons first video work, a single-shot dadaist piece
contrasting computer-read word-play and catatonic posing , filmed by Pete

Release One - Kenji Siratori and Crude - 'Alien Extermination'
'Alien Extermination’ is an international collaboration by two true
underground artists - Matt Middleton, from dunedin, New Zealand and
Kenji Siratori from Japan. Kenji Siratori is an insanely prolific
novelist of the cyber-punk tradition, his work severely deconstructed
and laden with terrifying dystopian futuristic imagery. Siratori uses
the internet to recruit sound-artists to record material suitable for
his vision His contribtion to this album is a selection of spoken word
out-takes, which Middleton manipulates at will. This album is soaked
in synthesiser, highly treated and at times quite savage. enjoy!

Matt Middleton/Crude for 2009. Based in Dunedin, New Zealand , Middleton
has amassed an impressive back-catalogue of works, and every so often a
title is released for free via the net. As with the free release from
2008, `syringe/insekt', the album is the first selection of works for
the year and will be included in the official Crude release, a data dvdr
featuring all videos, blogging, and music recorded by Matt Middleton for
2009, released late December 2009.
