Dear Sally, ADA, This is *great* news! How wonderful to see Radio One becoming part of the fantastic Radia network, which includes broadcasting luminaries and friends, such as ResonanceFM in London, Reboot in Berlin, Orange in Vienna, and CKUT in Montreal I was at a birthday party for Radio Grenouille in Marseille last month, and was reminded how strong and vibrant Radia is. It is amazing to know that Radio One is now part of this international movement.
Greetings from Switzerland, Honor >a new initiative which may interest some of you is a recently forged New >Zealand connection to the international radio art initiative, Radia : >http://www.radia.fm/ > >"Radia is a network of independent radio stations who have a common interest >in promoting and producing artworks for the radio, and in forming related >projects based on broadcasting and cultural exchange. We produce a weekly >radio show that is broadcast by each of the member radio stations. Our shows >represent the local artistic community of each station, whilst at the same >time these new works point to an emergent collective notion of >self-determined art for radio" > >Physically based in Dunedin at bNet station Radio One, the shows will be >managed and presented by Sally Ann McIntyre and Gilbert May with assistance >from Sean Norling, and are due to begin broadcasting in a new slot from 9 - >9:30 pm on the 19th of July, and every Sunday thereafter, with the first New >Zealand contribution to the network scheduled for late August. > >Shows made by member stations are played across the network. A list of >member stations can be found in the sidebar of the Radia website, and >includes radios in Lisbon, London, Brussels, Vienna, Marseille and New York. > Normally, when each member radio station in the Radia network commissions >an artist from their local artistic community, that artist is >given carte blanche for producing a show. In that sense, Radia uses radio as >a gallery for the curation of sound art pieces. > >As in other communities connected to Radia, this will become a valuable >opportunity for New Zealand sound and radio practitioners both to make new >work and to participate, on their own terms, in an established international >network of listeners and producers. > >Our aim is to contribute to the ongoing development of radio as an artform >in New Zealand, by providing a critical and stimulating framework for sound >work, and a peer-based context within a distributed, non-heirachical and >established international network that is well versed in the creative >possibilities around treating radio as a kind of artist run space. -- . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . honor harger present location: neuchatel, .ch email: [email protected] sms: +44 7765834272 -> w e b bio: http://www.radioqualia.net/honor -> w o r k guest curator of transmediale.10: http://www.transmediale.de -> r e s e a r c h phd at z-node, ch: http://www.z-node.net/ - > p l a y r a d i o q u a l i a: http://www.radioqualia.net -> l i s t e n radio astronomy: http://www.radio-astronomy.net _______________________________________________ Ada_list mailing list [email protected] http://aotearoadigitalarts.org.nz/
