As detailed last week's email, we're holding our first full AGM this coming Sunday (October 11) from 4.30 – 6pm.

Immediately after the AGM there will be an election for three positions on the ADA board, and we need nominations for potential board members before the meeting. All ADA members (list subscribers for more than 6 months, who have posted to the list or participated in a symposium), are eligible to be board members. You can nominate yourself or someone else, and each nomination needs a seconder.

The board oversees a range of projects intended to support and promote 'digital' art from Aotearoa. This includes our regular symposia, and in the last year or so it has included the Aotearoa Digital Arts Reader (edited by Stella and Su), the Cloudland exhibition and book launch at ISEA 2008, and an equipment loan scheme in partnership with the Physics Room that will be announced at the AGM.

As a board member you need to be available for semi-regular skype meetings (so people in other countries may need to be prepared for some weird time-shifting), which increase in number leading up to specific projects like symposia and AGMs. You also need to be willing to join in with writing funding applications, acquittals and other bits + pieces in a fairly collaborative manner, to work on organising the symposia, and to come up with ideas for new projects that you are willing and able to actually make happen. The current board has spent a lot of time and energy being the ADA board, and we anticipate that this will continue to be the case...

To propose a nomination you need to write about 50 words explaining why you (or someone else) would be a great board member. You need to send this to our returning officer Zoe Drayton (who is not a board member) by Friday October 9 at 5pm: [email protected]

Each nomination needs a seconder, so you need to arrange for someone else to email Zoe to support the nomination. Please include the email address you are subscribed to the list under.

The seconded nomination blurbs will be compiled and sent to the list before the AGM starts, and then voting will open after the AGM. All ADA members are eligible to vote, and we will post the minutes and relevant documents presented at the AGM to the ADA website to enable those who were unable to attend the meeting to make an informed vote. Voting will also be carried out by email through our impartial returning office Zoe.

This AGM marks an important step in opening the ADA board business and membership up for the first time, and we encourage all of you to participate through nominating, seconding, voting, and attending the AGM in whatever way you can.

We will post more detail on the AGM itself later in the week.
