*ARS-KA* is a self-financed art project which sees the light within the
complex and variegated world of the historical Squatted Social Centre
ASKATASUNA in Turin, Italy, the aim of which is to organize exhibitions,
events, work-shops of visual-art, music, dance in an unconventional space.
One of the main purposes of the *ARS-KA* project is to offer the inhabitants
of the district and beyond the opportunity to approach a new experience
usually out of their reach.

The next event will take place from December 11 to 20, 2009. It will show
the interactive installation *FISHES POETS *created by the Italian
multimedia artist Ennio Bertand (www.enniobertrand.com). This work of art
is the result of the continuous evolution of the installation *Lux sonnet in
tenebris** *that was originally shown in 1992. In the present version, ten
live red fishes interact with the beam of a built-in video-camera connected
to a music pattern. The motion of the fishes in the aquarium activates
pre-recorded sounds.

The music structure of Fishes Poets consists of different scores that are
given a pre-defined execution time, after which a new pattern is played,
like a page being turned over.

The sounds of each score have their own precise spatial reference,
previously set in the soft-ware of the installation, interpreted by the
video-camera. Each sound, virtually hosted in the music pattern, is
activated by the shadow of the fishes swimming around. The contingent
movement of the red fishes activates one or more sounds of the score in a
sequence or contemporaneousness dictated by them, thus bringing to life the
musical excerpt through their temporal development.
