Hello ADA_listers, Do you live in Wellington? Would you like to attend Wellington's Webstock Conference? Apply for 'Midnight Note' sponsorship and get a heavy discount! Pay only $529!
http://midnightnote.com/ Over the month of January, I helped run an fun transmedia storytelling project called "The Case of the Midnight Note<http://midnightnote.com/>". This noir themed detective adventure (running across Twitter, Facebook, and Wellington City) was actually a local fundraising exercise to raise money to subsidise people to attend a Wellington Conference called "Webstock"<http://www.webstock.org.nz/>. Our team raised $1100 to go towards the tickets of three lucky people, thanks to very generous donations from the web community here in Wellington. These three will each receive $366 towards their ticket, paid directly to Webstock on their behalf - the rest of the ticket ($529, at an earlybird rate) they must pay themselves. This is a significant saving on the full conference price, which is usually $1095. Webstock is a major event on the Wellington "conference calendar" and attracts a wide range of people: web developers, information architects, designers, and librarians. Here are just a few of the great speakers I'm looking forward to personally - · Shelly Bernstein - Chief of Technology at the Brooklyn Museum · Seb Chan - Head of Digital, Social and Emerging Technologies at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, Australia. · Régine Debatty - blogger and new media art curator. · Adam Greenfield - author of Everyware (2006), expert in ubiquitous computing · Scott Thomas - director of Barak Obama's online presidential campaign · Kevin Rose - the founder and chief architect of Digg.com See the full list of speakers<http://www.webstock.org.nz/10/speakers/> on the Webstock Website. If you'd like to apply (or know someone else deserving you'd like to nominate) to be one of these three people, · head over to the Midnight Note website, · see if you/they meet the criteria, · read the details on how to apply, · and send us an email before noon on Sunday February 7. If you're a student, or someone who is interested in the field but wouldn't be able to convince your employer to send you along to "an expensive web conference", I encourage you to apply! Feel free to email [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> with any questions you may have! (You can also read an interview about the Midnight Note project on the webstock blog<http://www.webstock.org.nz/blog/2010/the-case-of-the-midnight-note/>.)
