I sincerely doubt the characters K-I-W-I have ever propagated on a computer
network so often within a day, as today. I don't know a thing about football
- practically illegal in Tauranga, I remember as a boy - but it would seem the
world press is quite perplexed by NZ's 1:1 tie with reigning World Champions,
Italy:

Apparently we have just 25 professional footballers vs Italy's 3541. New Zealand
was previously ranked some 78 places below Italy in the World Cup.
Sitting in an outdoor terrace cafe here in Kreuzberg, Berlin (where almost every
cafe/restaurant has a ginormous flat screen TV following the cup) I've heard
"Kiwi" hushed in the accents of Deutsch, Turkish, French, Dutch, Swedish,
Spanish and of course Italian all afternoon.
I'll glady squander some cool by saying I'm a bit proud indeed,
Cheers,
