Hi, For those going to ISEA 2011 Istanbul, there is a dawn ceremony for the opening of Te Kore Rongo Hungaora Uncontainable Second Nature. Led by Te Huirangi Waikerepuru we welcome people gathering at 6.30am at Cumhuriyet Gallery Taksim Square on Wednesday the 14th of September.
http://isea2011.sabanciuniv.edu/other-event/uncontainable-second-nature This project is built on a bridge between Maori and European. It recontextualises art and science and dovetails with notions of the post-digital. There will also be an Eco sapiens roundtable on Saturday 17th Sept, 11am at the Sabanci Centre. This makes a critical alignment between climate change and listening to the voice of indigenous peoples as a way forward in the face of the global environmental crisis. It is essential that creative processes and belief systems are opened to accommodate indigenous and Maori perspectives. http://isea2011.sabanciuniv.edu/other-event/eco-sapiens-round-table Best Ian M Clothier Faculty of Humanities Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki www.witt.ac.nz 0064 6 757 3100 x 8895 Artist ianclothier.com
