Dear ADA, The ADA Network is happy to confirm dates for the Netwalking Tour, a series of workshops and master classes with UK-based media artist Simon Pope from March 16th - April 14th 2013.
Pope will lead three public workshops hosted by the ADA Network in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, which will draw upon his recent work of walking-as-art. The ADA Network will also host a residency period in Whanganui and coordinate a trans-tasman collaboration with a residency at the University of Wollongong, NSW. The Netwalking Tour will focus on the themes emerging from Pope’s recent projects such as The Memorial Walks (2008), A Common Third (2010) and Memory Marathon (2010). These projects involve walking with others to negotiate routes as a way of exploring relationships between people and our relationships with ‘land’. In ‘A Common Third’, (2010), Pope walked with others to jointly-negotiate unfamiliar terrain through hills and mountains, which later formed the basis of an audio installation, drawing parallels between processes of working together and models of dialogue. # Netwalking Programme http://www.ada.net.nz/projects/simon-pope-netwalking * Saturday March 16th, 11am – 4pm Masterclass Dowse Art Museum, Lower Hutt, Wellington * Sunday March 17th, 11am – 4pm Public Walk Dowse Art Museum, Lower Hutt, Wellington * Tuesday March 19th, 5.30pm Artist Talk – Sarjeant Gallery, Whanganui * Thursday March 28th, 11am – 4pm Masterclass Physics Room, Christchurch * Friday March 29th, 11am – 4pm Public Walk, Physics Room, Christchurch * Saturday March 30th Panel discussion at Mesh Cities Symposium, Christchurch * Wednesday April 4th, Masterclass, A.U.T University, Auckland * Thursday April 5th, Public event, A.U.T University, Auckland * Monday April 9th -13th Residency University of Woolongong, Australia * Saturday April 14th Public Walk, Sydney, Australia Registration and full programme information will be available in the last week of Jan 2013.
