Dear ADA, Some more information about the announcement of the ADA AGM to be held at the Dunedin Symposium.
ADA is a charitable trust with a small trust board (6 people), and everyone who is subscribed to this list is a "member" of ADA (currently about 300 people). The structure of ADA means that members can tell the trust what to do, instigate projects under the name of ADA, guide the direction of ADA, and apply to join the trust board. The time has come for some new energy to enter the trust board - and this means YOU! As you all know ADA has been run by a hardworking trust board since 2008. The current trustees are: Su Ballard, Zita Joyce, Stella Brennan (elected 2008), Julian Priest (elected 2009), Ana Terry (elected 2010), Vicki Smith (elected 2011). Stella and I have tendered our resignations, to take effect at the AGM on Sunday 2pm (NZ time). We hope that this means that ADA can enter a new dynamic phase, and we really hope that some of you will put your hands up to participate in steering the good ship ADA. You do not have to be in Dunedin to participate (you do not even have to be in New Zealand.) ADA is a distributed board that makes full use of the networks it was founded on. If you have questions, or want to be more involved but maybe not on the trust, please make sure you talk with Vicki or Zita over the weekend (before the Sunday meeting), or drop them a line!
