r0g _ the agency for open culture and critical transformation! Taking our cues from an urgent need to act different in a complex, increasingly proprietary, and authoritarian world, r0g_ takes on the struggles of freedom and openness faced by post-conflict and transformation regions. At the intersections of open source, art, design and technical hacktivism our work addresses means to counter online incitement to violence, developing information systems to stem irregular migration, support freedom of speech and enabling access to skills and knowledge - especially where they may be hindered by political or socio-economic roadblocks. As a nonprofit organisation dedicated to partnering with local grassroots organizations and governments actively seeking the empowerment of their citizens, the Evening of r0g_ is a performative and interactive rendezvous highlighting how open technologies and peacebuilding can be fused to create new forms of social enterprise! Featuring:r0g _ the agency, Susanne Bellinghausen (Germany) Jaiksana Jackson Soro (South Sudan) Heike Bluthardt (Netherlands) Wolfgang Spahn (Germany) and the the r0g_agency team hosted by ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ V2_, Lab for the Unstable Media is an interdisciplinary center for art and media technology in Rotterdam. The word ‘open’ is borrowed from the tech world and is used to describe something (texts, software, technology, information) that is accessible by the general public, and is free to be used and redistributed without legal or technological restrictions, removing barriers that might otherwise stand between individuals and the information they need. The r0g_agency is a nonprofit (gGmbH) that was founded in Berlin in 2013 by Susanne Bellinghausen and Stephen Kovats. After starting out in coworking spaces, the r0g_agency moved to its current location in Berlin-Charlottenburg in 2017. The r0g_agency was founded to combine on the ground work with open source methodologies in order to foster innovation and address structural problems in Juba, the new capital of the newly formed South Sudan. This work later became part of the #ASKnet project. Over time the scope of our work increased to include a focus on peacebuilding, online hate speech mitigation (as part of our #defyhatenow program), and creating safe and reliable sources of information on migration issues (as part of our #migrant media network). At the r0g_agency, we value diversity in all of its forms and we believe in being an open, inclusive, and affirming work environment. https://openculture.agency/ [https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/277511993_10158615337301497_2146890069254978539_n.jpg?stp=c168.0.206.206a_dst-jpg_p206x206&_nc_cat=111&ccb=1-5&_nc_sid=b386c4&_nc_ohc=jV48Lx3-jl4AX9EdI60&_nc_ht=scontent-sea1-1.xx&oh=00_AT9D3zjf3fZOJbOWGdJE1r_9Ur5Acb80aslRX8Y20tOung&oe=627351EE]<https://www.facebook.com/events/1343632202821557> The Evening of r0g _agency<https://www.facebook.com/events/1343632202821557> Welcome to r0g _ the agency for open culture and critical transformation! --> You can visit this event in person at V2_ or watch it online, tickets are 4 EUR and can be purchased here:... www.facebook.com _______________________________________________ Ada_list mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected] http://ada.net.nz/ Manage your list membership (Subscribe, Change to digest, Unsubscribe) http://list.waikato.ac.nz/mailman/listinfo/ada_list
