I'm excited to announce the launch of the international cross-disciplinary publication and symposium: Alternative Reality Gardening. https://awhiworld.com/portfolio/alternative-reality-gardening/ Works by Northland artists, scientists and writers make up more than half of the content. There are also international contributors from Europe, Brazil, the Philippines and Australia (a number of which work in and around space research). The book and symposium cover a wide range of responses to the theme with performances, recipes, poems, visual art, workshops and instructions included. One contributor in the symposium shares life as an organic farmer in Northland, while another dreams about houses woven from Harakeke. A leading creative technologist muses about cultivating ideas using emerging technologies while another forages for flowers to create from algorithms. Space technologists print new species of seaweed, gather sea glass or muse about Cape Canaveral's wildlife. We also have a wonderful contribution to the symposium from Vicki and Fred on behalf of ADA! Alternative Reality Gardening is a sub-project of the Awhi Incubator Programme which supports cross-disciplinary practice in Te Tai Tokerau. A number of our incubator participants feature so please support by taking a look or sharing the link to your networks.
