The Dell tool has many more features than ADMT. It was recommended by a
number of people. Here's a link to a comparison. It used to be known as the
Quest Migration Manager before Dell bought Quest.

Our environment is large and local support for AD varies from one area to
another so this seemed like the best choice for us. I know there are other
tools out there that may do a great job too.

Thanks everyone. I think I grabbed the newer download and didn't realize it
since the actual version number stays the same. They could have bumped to
3.21 or something but oh well, I do have it. I put in a sales request to
Dell yesterday for their toolset, haven't heard back yet. Out of curiosity,
what made you go with the Dell tool over the MS one?

There is a newer version out there for 2012, not sure if it's for 2012 or
2012R2.

We have purchased the Dell migration tools and done a couple of tests. It's
a pretty nice tool. We have not yet started actual migration, and I'm
guessing I'll learn more as we migrate people, workstations and servers.

Hi:

I posted some questions about the ADMT a few months ago and got some
good responses. I'm looking into this more, and the big worry I'm getting
is just how old/end of lifed this tool looks. The latest version I'm seeing
is 3.2, which supports 2008R2 (and just SQL 2008) but no higher. Does ADMT
work on newer operating systems/AD environments and MS just doesn't tell
anybody? Or, if you're in a newer environment than 2008R2 are you kind of
just SOL? I still need to look into the Dell migration tool, are there any
others out there?

Thanks.

Ryan
