The problem with that is that usually the most flamy issues are often the most dynamic ones in which the fastest progress is made. The advantages and disadvantages change every day, or else flamewars wouldn't be interesting. I suspect (without knowing databases very well) that most HOWTOs you'd find on MySQL versus PostgreSQL might be a little old.
