I've spent most of my life in male-dominated activities, first racing motorcycles, now in computers and Linux. I have never once had the desire to relegate myself to the "powder-puff" class.
I do what I do because I have a passion for it. I don't want to be separated because of my gender. If a person just does what they do, and does it well, I've found that gender isn't even an issue. The bigger problem is possibly that some young women are still focusing on what have been historically male-dominated areas and are seeing this as an obstacle. Segregating them is not going to help the problem. They've got to just know that they can come out and do what they do and that gender doesn't even come into it. They don't need their own private club. - Anita Thamer Al-Harbash wrote: > I'm serious: > > http://www.osdn.com/bcg/bcg/img25.html > > Females compromise %2 of the OSS hackers surveyed.
