I like your informaion and your goal. This would benifit the first part of my topic, Linux promotion tactics. Your insite on how to promot Linux to government would be very helpfull. I should plan to make a section for that also.

Where FLOSS (Free/Libre and Open Source Software - which Linux is one example of) shines is precicely in its decentralized nature. Centralized websites with focused messages are exactly what the old-economy players were doing, and if we are winning some 'war' then the war is against centralization. My personal focus is government policy around FLOSS. Most of my own time is spent with the GOSLING Community http://www.goslingcommunity.org/ and writing articles talking about the connections between FLOSS and existing (and future) public policy. Other people will focus on specific sections of the home market, others at their workplaces, and so on. I was asked recently if I hosted a point-form list of "Why Open Source" that this person could show to someone. My answer was that there isn't a good point-form list that will appeal to everyone, and you have to focus your message to that specific audience. Not only focus to the audience, but try to have the person presenting the message be part of that intended audience so that they can 'speak their language'. I may not work for government, but I consider myself a public servant. I don't always get along with all government employees or parliamentarians, but I seem to get along quite well with those who are also public servants and can speak that language. > Roy Souther > www.SiliconTao.com > > Changing the way people do business. ... and the way people do politics, and the way governments serve the public interest .... and...and... --- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: <http://www.flora.ca/> See http://weblog.flora.ca/ for announcements, activities, and opinions ALERT!
