What camera are you using? Are you using a desktop or laptop? Is it a P3 or P4? What OS are you using? What version of Premiere are you using? What format are these AVI's (codec) your camera creates? WIll Microsoft's Player work? Will Apple's Quicktime Player work? Does Real Player work? What does the manual for your camera say the file format for your avi is/are ? Did your camera come with software? Did you install the software? What is the software's name? Can you capture using a fire-wire? or USB? is your computer campatible? Try importing from TAPE instead of a memory card for starters. "video-ram" isnt really video.....they're just now starting to make extremely expensive "Cine-Ram" for digital cinematography but the consumer field isnt there yet. If it was your camera wouldn't have a tape deck built into it. Look at it this way, the camera outputs RAW DATA.
