Keep camera in same position. Record the empty set for a while (length of scene, or whatever, because you can always stretch the time; it won't show). Record action 1 of character A. Then, with camera in same position, record action 2 of character A, and so on. If each action is done on a different side of the set, then you can use a split screen to show both actions on screen at the same time. Recording the empty set allows you the freedom to dissolve an object or person in and out of a scene.. Split screen, or transform, or something like that can be found in your effects pallette. But you need to shoot for the edit, if you want it to come out right. I use both of these techniques in a music video I shot last year... The singer sings back up for himself, plays all the instruments, engineers himself while he sings, etc.. I want myself to be in the screen with three of me at once. i know that you have to keep the camera in the same position but how you can achieve the effect where there are multiples of the same person, without using a green screen and re-recording?
